My Favorite Places to Use Dining Dollars

By: Karla Leung ‘22

If you’re a freshman or sophomore who has dining dollars and want to spend them on something else besides Panda Express or Starbucks, keep reading! There are plenty of places to find delicious, healthy, and fresh foods that are closer than you think!

Fertitta Cafe

My absolute favorite place to use up my dining dollars is Fertitta Cafe! Located inside Fertitta Hall (JFF) in the corner of campus, the entire cafe consists of Asian-inspired cuisine. They have bars for all sorts of Asian food, including dumplings, bao, banh mi, bibimbap, ramen, pho, salad, a dim sum bar, and plenty of sushi. They also have Thai and milk tea if you’re in need of a quick fix of boba between classes! And if you’re missing your Asian treats from home, right at the entrance are shelves stocked full of Asian cookies, chips, and drinks if you’re looking to try some grass jelly or miss Hello Panda. They have plenty of seating as well, which makes it perfect for getting food with friends.

Seeds Marketplace

Seeds Marketplace is the place to go for a healthy and quick lunch. Located in the Tutor Campus Center (TCC), they have an absolute plethora of food! Located at the front is a salad bar, where you can make your own custom salad with the works for only $9.99, as well as a sandwich bar where you can order fresh sandwiches. In the back is a rotisserie bar, where you can get comfort food such as chicken, mac and cheese, salmon, and more. They also have plenty of vegan options, with pre made salads, fruit cups, and wraps. Seeds even has pre made food from Cafe Gratitude, a delicious vegan restaurant (my favorite is the Mexican Buena bowl with coconut ceviche and cashew nacho cheese!). In the back is an abundance of snacks, chips, and drinks that you can stock up on, including Halotop, Stumptown Coffee, kombucha, candy, and more!

C&G Juice Bar

C&G Juice Bar, previously Nekter Juice Bar, serves healthy smoothies, juices, and acai bowls! Located between Watt Hall (WAH) and Harris Hall (HAR), you can grab a quick healthy drink or snack. Grab a boost shot for an immunity pick-me-up or a coffee if you’re feeling a bit tired. Everything is full of healthy and fresh ingredients and you can customize them with add-ons including whey protein, cacao nibs, chia seeds, hemp granola, and much more! Watch them prepare your delicious healthy snack or drink with fresh fruits and vegetables and feel good that you made a healthy food choice!

Musick Law Building

Located in the Musick Law Building (LAW), a graduate student building, it’s no surprise that many people haven’t heard of it. However, it’s worth a trip to the basement to check out the Law School Cafe, which also consists of Asian-inspired dishes. You can grab a salad, rice bowl, sandwich, or even a milk tea boba! Although I’ve admittedly never been (I don’t really have a reason to be in the law building), it appears to be a hidden gem to grab lunch!

PS! Don’t forget that even if you’re without dining dollars, you can hand the cashier your student ID and they’ll take off the tax for you!
