Must Try Foods When You Visit Disneyland

by Emma Wong

Growing up just 20 minutes from Disneyland, I’ve had the privilege of trying many snacks, sweets, and quick bites the parks have to offer. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a lifelong Disney lover, food is half the magic, and some menu items have practically become attractions themselves. From iconic churros to more recent foodie favorites, here are my top picks for must-try eats when visiting Disneyland Resort or Disney’s California Adventure:

1. Mickey Waffles at Schmoozies!

Start your day on a sweet and iconic note with Mickey-shaped waffles, found at Schmoozies! in Disney California Adventure. They’re golden, fluffy, and almost too cute to eat.

2. Corn Dogs from Little Red Wagon or Corn Dog Castle

Ask any Disneyland regular and they'll point you here. These hand-dipped corn dogs are by far the best corn dog I have ever had. They are large enough to fill you for lunch and have the most perfectly crisp batter on the outside of the corn dog. You can’t go wrong with the classic stand on Main Street (Little Red Wagon) or the slightly more tucked-away Corn Dog Castle in California Adventure.

3. Monte Cristo at Café Orleans

This deep-fried, powdered sugar-dusted ham and cheese sandwich is a Disneyland legend. It's rich, indulgent, and best enjoyed with the view of New Orleans Square.

4. Beignets from Mint Julep Bar

Soft, warm, and covered in powdered sugar, these Mickey-shaped beignets are the perfect snack between rides. Pro tip: catch them fresh and pair with a mint julep for the full experience.

5. Churros from Churro Carts Around the Park

A classic. The churros at Disneyland hit different. You’ll find seasonal flavors year-round (like pumpkin spice or s’mores), but nothing beats the OG cinnamon-sugar.

6. Dole Whip at Tropical Hideaway

This pineapple soft serve is so refreshing and the perfect midday pick me up. Located in Adventureland, it’s a tropical treat that never disappoints, especially on a hot day. Although the pineapple flavor is my personal favorite, they often have other delicious flavors too!

7. Cold Brew Black Caf at Docking Bay 7

A newer addition in Galaxy’s Edge, this Cold Brew is topped with sweet cream cheese foam and cocoa puffs. Sounds wild? It works. A must for coffee lovers.

8. QuesaBirria at Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill

This California Adventure spot serves up crispy birria tacos with a rich dipping consommé. It’s flavorful, cheesy, and one of the park’s best savory options.

9. Birria Grilled Cheese at Jolly Holiday

Another birria twist, this grilled cheese is gooey, melty, and comes with a side of dipping broth. It’s comfort food, Disney style.

10. Caramel Apples at Candy Palace

These aren’t your average caramel apples; they’re art. Decorated like characters or themed to seasons, they are so cute and just as yummy.

11. Clam Chowder Bread Bowls at Pacific Wharf Café or Harbour Galley

Rich, creamy clam chowder served in a fresh sourdough bread bowl - this San Francisco-inspired dish is a cozy favorite that’s filling and flavorful.

12. Mickey Ice Cream Bar from Ice Cream Carts

It doesn’t matter how old you are because biting into a Mickey-shaped ice cream bar on a sunny Disney day is pure joy.

13. Turkey Leg and Giant Pickle Near Thunder Mountain

For the snackers who want something salty and bold: these jumbo turkey legs are smoky and savory, and the giant pickles are surprisingly refreshing.

Final Thoughts

In order to avoid long lines when getting food, download the Disneyland app and utilize the mobile order feature! I have avoided 30 minute long lines and walked right up to get my food because of mobile order.

Disneyland is a magical place, and the food plays a huge part in that magic. The parks offer something delicious around every corner. So come hungry and maybe pack some stretchy pants.
