by Eileen Huang (Student Life Guest Blog)

Are you ready for Valentine's Day? Excited to dive into a sea of romance, or perhaps you're approaching it with a different mindset altogether? Whether you're basking in the company of a significant other, treasured friends, or prioritizing self-care, seize the opportunity to savor each moment and sprinkle love wherever you tread. Regardless of your plans, Valentine's Day at USC offers a diverse array of activities and opportunities to celebrate love in all its forms. In this blog, we'll explore the V-day atmosphere on campus, delve into some of the dating topics and trends emerging in the Trojan dating landscapes and highlight some exciting Valentine's Day events and activities happening at USC.

Trojan Dating: Traditional Meet Cutes vs. Dating Apps

What has been your experience and preference of dating on the USC campus? Are you staying with the traditional notion of "meet cutes”? Joining on the swipe-right dating app culture? Or both? In our Student Life Instagram survey, many Trojans turned to platforms like Bumble, Tinder, and Hinge to connect with potential romantic interests. While among these three popular apps, interesting enough, from USC Student Life’s Instagram poll, Hinge stood out as the “best” among the three. While many students are turning to dating apps, some have also expressed their concerns with dating app, specifically naming the difficulty to hold a conversation, finding serious interests, and getting compatible matches.

Love and Love of Various Kinds

While Valentine's Day is traditionally associated with romantic love, it's also a celebration of the rich tapestry of relationships that color our lives — from family, friends, and most importantly, self-love! Whether it reminds you about the high-fives and inside jokes shared between friends, or the shoulders to lean on during moments of uncertainty, the unwavering support that forms the backbone of our collegiate experience. It’s the moment to take time to appreciate your relationships with woven with threads of connection, appreciation, and endless possibility.
