Sports 360: Basketball
By: Kelly Kinas ‘16
You’ve heard of the 3 majors sports in the US: Football, baseball, and basketball. Other countries just make fun of us so much because our football isn’t the same as their football. But hey! We have other sports that we care about too! One sport that we all were forced to play in elementary school (and some of still enjoy watching) is basketball. Plus, with the Home USC vs. UCLA game coming up on February 4th at 7:30pm at the Galen Center, I thought i would be a necessary blog to go over the basics of basketball.
Crosstown Showdown: USC Men’s Basketball takes on UCLA at 7:30 Tonight!
By: Emily Young MA ‘16
USC Men’s Basketball is on fire. The team’s 17-5 start is its best since the 1991-92 season. Not only is the team playing spectacular, but tonight’s game determines who runs LA. USC Men’s Basketball has already defeated the UCLA Bruins (13-9) at Pauley Pavilion 89-75, but they need our fan support for the clean sweep. (Our last regular season series sweep over the Bruins was in 2010).
Missin ‘Murica: A Homesick List
By: Judy Lee ‘17
Don’t get me wrong, studying abroad is an immense privilege and every day I am grateful to wake up and experience something new. But I’m not going to pretend like there’s no place like home. There is a big chunk of my life missing from the current picture:
If you're one of us, then Caucus
By: Grace Carballo ‘17
I’ve found this particular Monday to be more exciting than most because not only am I in my 5th favorite state, Iowa, in the company of greatness (my grandparents), but also I’m here at a pivotal time- tonight is the kickoff of the presidential nominations process and I was more than willing to travel a few hundred miles and cross the Mississippi to see the Iowa Caucus in the flesh. (For the record, I came from my home state of Illinois, not SoCal - that would probably be taking things too far).
The Polite, Twisted Genius of Vince Gilligan
By: Michael Boyle ‘18
In 2008, America was introduced to Walter White, a mild mannered, high school science teacher who had just been diagnosed with cancer. Five years later, 10.3 million people tuned in to watch Walter White, a murderous drug kingpin, meet his demise. Last week, on January 26, a group of USC students crowded inside the Bing Theater to get the chance to see the man who made the monster.

I’ve always known what I’ve wanted to do—become a fashion editor. My love of fashion came from reading stacks and stacks of magazines when I was young, and that turned into following blogs and editorial websites as the industry expanded. More so than reading, though, I’ve also loved writing. So I actually started off as a Print and Digital Journalism major but felt that studying PR would give me better access to the kinds of fashion opportunities that exist in Los Angeles, and it definitely has…
Not in Trojanland Anymore: 4 Things I Miss About USC
By: Judy Lee ‘17
I’m not going to lie—being abroad in London is already one of the most wonderful experiences of my entire life to date. However, there are things about this place that just isn’t…well, just isn’t USC. Here are several:
How to Blog (In Case You Were Wondering)
By: Kelly Kinas ‘16
You’re reading this because you probably saw this is on Facebook shared by me or posted originally on Trojans 360. This is a blog (and the sky is blue). I was one of the co-founders of this blog for USC Communications and the University itself. I had no idea what I was doing at that point. I had a lot of opinions. I had a tumblr blog of my own for 4 years but it was mostly for reblogging harry potter gifs.

Day trips anywhere are usually tons of fun. However, it is easy to get caught up in the excitement and neglect a lot of small (but important!) details that can make or break your trip. Here are five things you should consider before leaving!
5 Places You Must See In London

The London Eye, Big Ben, Tower Bridge—all of them are beautiful. However, there are some places that are breathtaking and require a little more digging. Here are five!
5 Culture Shocks You’ll Run Into In London
By: Judy Lee ‘17
Being dropped into a strange place is great, I’ve found. It not only gives you an appreciation for something new, but something you may have had along. Studying abroad in London has definitely allowed me to appreciate the states while growing fond of the land beyond the pond. Here are a few things that struck me while I’ve been here this past week:
The Importance of Traveling Alone
By: Judy Lee ‘17
Traveling alone is often glorified yet not given the respect it deserves. It is also often not taken as an opportunity. However, in my opinion, it is critical and absolutely necessary for everyone to travel alone at least once. It doesn’t matter whether this entails a trip of 20 minutes or 20 months–only that you have time to be alone with yourself and figure out how you can literally live with yourself.
Is it Spring Break Yet? Why It's Not Too Soon to Start Planning.

Thoughts of returning to school Tuesday after this glorious three-day weekend might have you thinking: “is it Spring Break yet?”
For Grads: Using the Career Center for Landing Full-Time Jobs
By: Lauren Brose ‘15
Finding a job nowadays is a full-time job within itself and just because we have USC on our resumes doesn’t mean getting hired is as simple as filling out a job application. As much as I’d love to say all major companies handpick graduates from USC, that simply isn’t true. USC is a great university to learn, grow and emerge into the working world from for a number of reasons; however, getting a high-paying job handed to you as you receive your diploma at graduation is not one of them. There is good reasoning behind why some grads are receiving offers of employment.

Unfortunately, our winter break is almost coming to an end. With all of our holidays over and the new year beginning, going back to USC is inevitable and a fun challenge awaiting us. But, alas, it is bittersweet. Winter Break is a great way to destress after the fall semester and I have created a list for y’all to make sure your winter break ends with a bang.

By: Michael Boyle ‘18
Having been home for a while, I’ve noticed that there are some slight differences between being at school at USC and being at home for winter break. I’ve outlined some for you here. Take notes.
Out of SCight, Out Of Mind
By: Grace Carballo ‘17
Before you go abroad this spring, you’re probably feeling nervous and excited, and maybe a little worried about leaving USC and your friends there behind. All of these are completely normal emotions, and as you learned in your Overseas Studies Orientation, there will inevitably times where you feel homesick not only for your family, but for your Trojans and the familiarity and comfort USC has offered you all these semesters.

By: Kelly Kinas ‘16
2015 was a fantastic year for the USA and for the world. But what specifically happened at USC? Well, I am so glad you asked. Take a look back at USC in 2015 and think of the amazing things yet to come!
