You now have to prove to your parents that you live an exciting, responsible life full of nourishing food, educational activities, and good friends!

Independence is Happiness: Being single during your 20s
By: Lauren Brose ‘15
During college, there is so much uncertainty with what the future holds— Not knowing if you’ll get a job, not knowing where will it be, and asking yourself “what’s next for me?” is a daunting experience. I came to this realization my sophomore year. It became clear to me then that I needed to do whatever it took to put myself in a good spot for a job upon graduation. That was when I decided my life is 100% about my goals. I’m sure many of us desire accomplishing a number of specific things before 30 such as traveling the world or moving up quickly in the working world. These aspirations truly reflect who we are as people; therefore, we owe ourselves this time to fully discover who we really are.
Why This Month’s Weekender Will Be Extra Epic

Do you remember what made you want to become a Trojan? For me it was my health class in 2010. My teacher (who was undeniably the coolest) from high school was a Trojan. Naturally, he was the driving force behind why I wanted to become a Trojan myself. He talked about Los Angeles, Greek life, our football team, the Trojan Family, and the insanely fun sh*t he did with his friends because let’s face it, USC is AWESOME. For half a year, I heard the most legendary tales of his days as a college student at the greatest school on earth.
Greetings from Managua

It’s been far too long since I’ve posted and I’m not really sure where to begin exactly, but drawing from The Sound of Music, let’s start from the very beginning, the beginning is the place to start.
LACMArt History
By: AnnaLiese Burich ‘17
Museums: they’re either something you love or you hate. Or, you don’t like them but pretend you do to maintain your #artsy hipster and persona. Me? I love them. I especially love modern art; for a hot second last year, my dream job was to be the curator of the MoMA in New York. I used to be an art history major, so when I go to museums I don’t see random doodles on a white wall. When I see a black canvas, I don’t think to myself “Psh, I could have done that,” but instead of the rich layers of meaning associated with it, both historical and symbolical.
Things you NEED to do every week in college
By: Kelly Kinas ‘17
Do you think you are a productive human being? Fantastic. The real questions is whether you are actually be productive for your future and for your current self. As a college junior, I have definitely made mistakes and found ways to not do them again. Now, I am here to try to help you be a little bit more rich, in more ways than one. Let’s get started!
So You’re Turning 20: A To-Do List
By: Judy Lee ‘17
My birthday was on September 15 and it was the very confusing 2-0 this time around. It’s been several days of processing now and I’ve come to realize that coming to peace with leaving your teen years really requires a lot of epiphanies and moments of truth to help keep you moving forward instead of being held back.
In Case You Missed It: Three Major Updates from this Weekend
By: Emily Young MA ‘16
1. USC Annihilated Arizona State won big against Arizona State this past Saturday, 42-14, putting the Trojans 1-0 in the PAC-12 South. Most notably, at halftime we led 35-0, a showcase of defensive discipline and offensive dominance. The next football game is Thursday, October 8th in the Coliseum against Washington…
Football, Football, Football

As you all know, or maybe you don’t, USC Football has two weeks before our next home game at the Coliseum. With an away game at ASU this Saturday and a bye-week next week, we all have some time to brush up on our football facts or learn some new ones.

What Changes around USC Once You Turn 21
By: Paul Samaha ‘17
This past weekend I turned 21. I had a great birthday (aside from the loss to Stanford) with great friends and even some family that flew in town from Virginia to visit me. While part of me is terrified of getting any older and wants to freeze time where it is, I’m mostly just excited to be able to explore new areas of USC and the nearby LA area that I couldn’t explore before! Below are some nearby places I can now legally enter/order from that I couldn’t before.
Zoomed In On Trojan Vision
By: AnnaLiese Burich ‘17
Did you know you can be a producer? Yes, of course you did. You might be one of the plenty of business and film students are currently working away in pre-professional classes at USC, dreaming of the day you can work behind the scenes of shows like SNL, Jimmy Fallon, or The Daily Show.
Seeing Stars and How to Catch Them
By: AnnaLiese Burich ‘17
We all knew it when we applied, we all knew it when we chose to come here, and we all know it every time we leave the house: celebrities live in LA. We live amongst the stars; this is Hollywood, land of glamour and paparazzi and home to every one of our favorite entertainment industry professionals (except the odd ones out who live in New York – whatever).
Having a Pet at USC: Good or Bad Idea?
By: Lauren Brose ‘15
Until this past May, I’ve never owned a pet that didn’t belong in a tank. I grew up not only loving animals and desiring one for myself but with a brother who had asthma accompanied with a string of allergies such as grass or dust. While it was devastating to not have a dog or a cat in the family, I knew when the time was right, I would get my very own fur baby.
Presenting USC’s 123rd National Champions: Continuing a Trojan Tradition
By: Emily Young MA ‘16
One of the main aspects that drew me to University of Southern California was its history of athletic excellence. Since 1912, a USC athlete has won a gold medal in every summer Olympics. USC has produced more Olympians, overall medalists, and gold medalists than any other university in the United States. USC athletics is rich with tradition and it is displayed all around us: the pillars in the Louis Zamperini Plaza of Cromwell Track and Field, Heritage Hall, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and even Tommy Trojan himself was modeled after different USC Football players. There is pride, history, and distinction in putting on a USC jersey. That is why hoisting USC’s 123rd National Championship Ring is so meaningful—it’s tradition.
Why the Rest of the School Year Should Be like the First Two Weeks
By: Kelly Kinas ‘17
The first two weeks of school are great but unfortunately, they have come to an end. But I firmly believe that the first two weeks of school have some pretty strong ideals that should continue throughout the school year. Let me explain.
Things You Forgot Over Summer and Need to Remember NOW
By: Kelly Kinas ‘17
With the second week of school just ending, hopefully we all should have gotten back into the swing of things from previous semesters. But those of you like me, I feel like I had a lot more knowledge about campus before I left for summer. When freshman come up to me and ask a question, I don’t automatically know the answer.
