It was November 25th, 2017 and the USC Women’s Volleyball team was against our blue and yellow crosstown rivals. This whole season, the valiant team lead USC into the Pac-12 conference with a score of 14-6. Earlier in the season, USC beat UCLA in a stunning 3-2 match on 9/21. Before the season’s final game at the Galen Center, USC ranked 13th with an overall score of 22-9.

I joined KASA Freshmen Dance-off as someone who has never really danced before unless you count high school prom (plus, I’m also extremely clumsy and uncoordinated). Nevertheless, deciding to join was one of the best decisions I made my first semester freshman year.

Kitwana is a Swahili word, meaning that one vows ‘to live.’ This is what Junior USC student Marcus Burke, an Animation and Digital Arts Major, roared into the cold air Wednesday as he ascended the steps of PED. He and senior Marquis Morris (USC Sociology major and All-American Track athlete) had just officially joined one of the most esteemed fraternities in the National Pan-Hellenic Council: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Before attending USC, and even before I was officially accepted as a student, there was a piece of advice I got from upperclassmen that was constantly restated: get a football student season ticket. As someone who knew nothing about football, I hesitated. Two-hundred dollars was a lot of money to ask for considering how much I already had to spend in preparation for college itself. I continued to ask upperclassmen for their input and was told the same. Ultimately, I bought the pass and have no regrets for doing so.

One of our most mysterious rivalry traditions of our annual Troy Week is the ritualistic guarding of USC’s most prominent statues and icons on campus, namely Tommy Trojan, Traveler, George Tirebiter, and Hecuba (the newest addition to the USC Village and icon family).

For the third consecutive year, the Academic Honors & Fellowships office hosted their annual USC Research and Fellowships Week. The office is committed to educating the USC community about university awards and nationally competitive fellowships. That’s why during this week-long session, students were able to learn about different research and scholarship opportunities available to them at USC and nation-wide. Although some programs are aimed at upperclassmen and graduate students, there are multiple scholarships available to underclassmen as well! Here are the top 5 that every student should apply for!
