Credits

By: Grace Carballo ‘17

I first heard about Credits, a web series from Alex Burns and Alexandra Kyllingstad while I was abroad in Nicaragua this fall. I watched the trailer and then the season premiere on December 6th and was excited to see several familiar faces from around campus putting together a funny series about the nitty gritty realities of film school.

Sports 360: Basketball

By: Kelly Kinas ‘16

You’ve heard of the 3 majors sports in the US: Football, baseball, and basketball. Other countries just make fun of us so much because our football isn’t the same as their football. But hey! We have other sports that we care about too! One sport that we all were forced to play in elementary school (and some of still enjoy watching) is basketball. Plus, with the Home USC vs. UCLA game coming up on February 4th at 7:30pm at the Galen Center, I thought i would be a necessary blog to go over the basics of basketball.

Crosstown Showdown: USC Men’s Basketball takes on UCLA at 7:30 Tonight!

By: Emily Young MA ‘16

USC Men’s Basketball is on fire. The team’s 17-5 start is its best since the 1991-92 season. Not only is the team playing spectacular, but tonight’s game determines who runs LA. USC Men’s Basketball has already defeated the UCLA Bruins (13-9) at Pauley Pavilion 89-75, but they need our fan support for the clean sweep. (Our last regular season series sweep over the Bruins was in 2010).

By: Samantha Romero ‘16

1. Bring Something to Do: Long car or metro rides can easily become a bore, especially when you’re listening to the same songs over and over again on the radio. So whether you’re taking public transportation or driving, create a playlist with a variety of music to help alleviate the morning commute…

If you're one of us, then Caucus

By: Grace Carballo ‘17

I’ve found this particular Monday to be more exciting than most because not only am I in my 5th favorite state, Iowa, in the company of greatness (my grandparents), but also I’m here at a pivotal time- tonight is the kickoff of the presidential nominations process and I was more than willing to travel a few hundred miles and cross the Mississippi to see the Iowa Caucus in the flesh. (For the record, I came from my home state of Illinois, not SoCal - that would probably be taking things too far).

The Polite, Twisted Genius of Vince Gilligan

By: Michael Boyle ‘18

In 2008, America was introduced to Walter White, a mild mannered, high school science teacher who had just been diagnosed with cancer. Five years later, 10.3 million people tuned in to watch Walter White, a murderous drug kingpin, meet his demise. Last week, on January 26, a group of USC students crowded inside the Bing Theater to get the chance to see the man who made the monster.

5 Cafes to Study in DTLA

By: Samantha Romero ‘16

One of my favorite local coffee houses, Groundwork Coffee makes you feel like you’re lounging in your own living room. My favorite drink is the chai latté with their very own homemade whipped cream. If you’re looking for an extra kick of caffeine ask for the “dirty chai.” For some powerfood try one of their salads or my personal favorite is the toasted ham and cheese croissant…

Style Guru: Lauren Black

By: Samantha Romero ‘16

I’ve always known what I’ve wanted to do—become a fashion editor. My love of fashion came from reading stacks and stacks of magazines when I was young, and that turned into following blogs and editorial websites as the industry expanded. More so than reading, though, I’ve also loved writing. So I actually started off as a Print and Digital Journalism major but felt that studying PR would give me better access to the kinds of fashion opportunities that exist in Los Angeles, and it definitely has…
