To all transfer students out there….you’re not alone! Embrace being a newbie to USC and just do you. I was once in your position as a transfer student myself and I can happily say I’ve found my place of belonging in this great school. It didn’t happen overnight — it was certainly a process that lasted months — but it was an experience that personally challenged me. Enjoy the ride and get out there and make some friends!

This past summer, it really dawned on me just how old I am getting. Deterministically not pursuing a Master’s, the next chapter for me is my career. I call this “Adulting.” As far as I can tell, adulting is the bane of my existence and the cause of death to this huge part of my soul: my social butterfly. I think to myself more often than not why I never took naps when I had the time. Now, naps are a luxury reserved for the weekends and the “occasional” I-have-so-much-to-do-I’m-gonna-nap-instead moments.

A thunderbolt who crashed onto the USC organization scene, Pocket is one of the most driven people I’ve met – with precision and execution to actualize her ambitions. Currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Pocket is also the founder and president of the newest female-oriented organization on campus: SoGal (previously known as GirlsUp). Her favorite snacks include a variety of Asian desserts!

Denise Rockstroh is a humble powerhouse of a lady, and I’m so proud to present her as my second SC Spotlight! Denise is majoring in Health Promotion & Disease Prevention/Pre-Med emphasis and is in the class of 2015 (”ahhh graduation!”) She is the director of the Special Events Committee within Program Board, and her favorite snack is frozen blueberries!

I search the web during lectures frequently. I know it’s not the honorable thing todo, but with my classes lasting well beyond three hours, I think I deserve to take brief intermissions and indulge myself with anything the world wide web has to offer. Anyway, I ran across an article yesterday about college students starting their own businesses. I scrolled through the list of the entrepreneurs, and found not one, not two, but THREE different business ventures operated by fellow Trojans. It’s exciting to see people who are around my age making moves that can grow into multi-million dollar industries, and I just had to give these future magnates justice by sharing their start-ups with you guys.
