In undergrad, students care most about social events, partying and are all about school spirit. Graduate school comes around and students tend to leave a life partying, sleeping, lollygagging for a life of sleepless nights studying; consuming and producing rigorous work. In other words, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”

Thanksgiving break is just weeks away. Many return home to be reunited with family but most importantly we have a ton (and I mean TON) of Netflix to catch up on. It seems like the norm these days is the watch Netflix when you’re not in the mood for human interaction. Ironically, when I go home to see my family we utilize Netflix as a means for getting everyone in the same room to enjoy quality home entertainment. Whatever you use Netflix for, consider some suggestions that I have received from family, friends and my personal (and eclectic I hope) taste.

While I am no longer living in USC housing, throughout my freshman year, I enjoyed living in New Residential College. While it was not a 5-star hotel by far, as a college student, living on-campus was extremely opportune. Also not everyone can have the best roommate ever, but hopefully everyone gets at least half that lucky. Get ready for nostalgia about freshman year and look at why USC housing is so convenient.

There has been a really big push within the past year for sexual assault awareness and prevention. Trust me when I say, I feel much safer now that some of the guys around campus are educated on what rape and sexual assault are. Unfortunately, people are still gonna rape others and still sexually assault others, either out of ignorance or because they are horrible people. This blog post is for that horrible situation or if one of your friends comes home from the night claiming to have been sexually assaulted or raped. This is the guide to helping the person who has been assaulted and getting them to help if they need some.

The 2013-2014 term was a year of drastic changes for me. I moved out of my house and into a one-bedroom apartment I shared with a girl from Chicago whom I had absolute nada in common with. Always more of a guys girl (you can thank my brother for that), I faced my fear of socializing with large groups of girls and joined a sorority. Until then, I had never found myself surrounded by so many attractive, accomplished girls who are just my age.

Midterms are some of the most dreaded times of the year for most students. During this time, you’re probably spending most of your time last-minute cramming before the exam or essay is due, and there’s even more stress added, if you have a part-time, full-time job, club meetings, internships and other activities.

One of the best decisions I made my freshman year was joining a club whose message I agree with wholeheartedly. For me, Dance Marathon was the best decision for me because I love working with children and dancing around for extended periods of time.

One of the hardest parts about living on your own (and slowly and painfully becoming an adult) is learning how to feed yourself. Gone are the days when you could open a stocked fridge to leisurely select your meal. In college, it is the unfortunate reality that sometimes you open up your fridge to be greeted by a lone bottle of Sriarcha. And a potato. If you’re lucky.

Not only can you go shopping somewhere other than the pop-up places on Trousdale, you are also pretty popular with your friends if they ever need a ride to the airport.
