Feeling Stressed? You're not alone sistas and brothas

By: Lauren Brose ‘15

That awkwardly freaky moment when your insides are about to explode because you feel like you currently don’t have a very tight grasp on anything in your life. I’ve been there, you’ve been there, we’ve all been there– many times.

There's No Real "Con" in Being Confident

By: Kelly Kinas ‘17

Okay, I usually get a ton of flack from people for being confident. I recognize that there is a fine line between being confident and being full of yourself. Excuse me but if thinking that I am a worthwhile, interesting, attractive person makes me “unworthy” of someone’s time, it is their problem; NOT MINE.

About Lauren

By: Lauren Brose ‘15

I’m gonna be real with you right now. Like many students at USC, biking is my primary form of transportation around campus. During my 0.7 mile (yes I actually calculated the distance for emphasis) from my apartment to the cubicle I am writing this bio post in, I was almost hit by not one but two cars. Honestly, what’s the deal? I am already clumsy enough as it is I do not need a car to further contribute to the scrapes and bruises I manage to get on my own thank you very much.

About Kelly

By: Kelly Kinas ‘17

I would probably say “yo” or “sup” ironically if we ever met in normal human interaction but since you are meeting me through the interwebs, I will be very polite and formal. Hello. My name is Kelly Kinas. See? Couldn’t you feel the firm handshake after the “hello”? I could. Either way, I’m a sophomore communications major, marketing minor. I am a part of the Executive Board of the Panhellenic Council and Trojan Dance Marathon. Get ready to see my face….

7 Tips to Make Freshman Year Kinda Cool

By: Kelly Kinas ‘17

Helllllo Kelly here! Okay, so I’ve been searching for a decent college tip list and, truthfully, they all kind of suck. There is a range of opinions and judgmental comments based on a person’s actions so let me put this disclaimer first and forefront.

Hello, SCenior Year

By: Vanessa Wilkins ‘15

I am currently moving into the house that I’ll be living in for my senior year…Wait, what?! It always takes me aback every time I remember that this year I will be a senior. And the only question I find myself asking is where did the time go?! The past three years have gone by unbelievably fast, and I cannot believe that I am about to start my last year of undergrad.

It's Back to School Already

By: Isabella Sayyah ‘16

I can’t believe it. Somehow it’s not only August, but this is my last week of interning and my first week returning to campus. At Daily Trojan, we have an Orientation Issue, or O-Issue as we call it, which comes out at the beginning of Orientation Week. Because it’s not only a much bigger issue that our normal daily ones, but also all the staff is just learning their duties and adjusting to their new positions, we start on it over a week before Orientation Week actually begins. Luckily, that also means we’re done with it early and get to go on a staff retreat to Palm Desert.

My Date with the USC Career Center

By: Aida Solomon MCM ‘15

One of my biggest preoccupations this summer has been job hunting. Although I had found a promising internship almost two months ago, the opportunity fell apart. I was disappointed to be so close to jump-starting my career and having to start over again from square one.

Eating My Way Through Downtown LA

By: Isabella Sayyah ‘16

If you asked me two years ago if I ever went to Downtown LA, or even really considered going there, the answer would be no. Living 40 miles outside the city, an hour drive on a good day, I didn’t often come into the city. And when I did, it was almost always to go somewhere on the Westside (I’m originally from Santa Monica and almost all of my family in California lives somewhere on the Westside).

Countdown to Move-In Day

By: Mollie Berg ‘16

This weekend, my sister and I went to Street Food Cinema’s movie in the park! Saturday’s movie was “Wolf of Wallstreet,” and we got to watch it on a huge screen in Exposition Park, right by the USC Coliseum. Along the side, there were probably about 15 food trucks with various types of cuisine—sushi, Mexican food, popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, seafood and other types of food you wouldn’t think were meant to belong in a truck! At the event, I met my friend from Daily Trojan (the sports editor) and my friend from past classes.

Stuck in a Bubble

By: Isabella Sayyah ‘16

Last week, I was in a meeting with the features web editors (my bosses, basically), the editors of all the features sections, and the homepage web editors. The homepage web editors wanted to go over pitching stories to put on the homepage, rather than just live on the section pages (food, fashion, etc.). Because the L.A. Times is a major, serious print publication, most of the homepage tends to be hard news stories, but there’s always a few lighter things on there as well (though sometimes you really have to scroll down to see them).

Summer Movie Nights at USC

By: Vanessa Wilkins ‘15

One of the coolest things about going to USC is all of the awesome perks they have for their students, even in the summer! My favorite summer perk is the free movie screenings that the USC School of Cinematic Arts hosts throughout the year.
